PADAWAN, Sept 18: A motorcyclist was killed after being struck by an SUV in an accident at the P-Turn along Jalan Batu Kawa-Bau, near the Vision Height 3 residential area, today.
In the accident at about 10.10am, the victim, Nady Incheh, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe injuries.
Padawan District Police Chief Superintendent Barry William said the accident involved an SUV driven by a 63-year-old man with a 45-year-old male passenger, and the motorcycle ridden by the victim.
“Preliminary investigations found that the SUV was travelling straight along the middle lane from Batu Kawa towards Lundu.
“Upon reaching the location, the vehicle is believed to have lost control before hitting the rear of the victim’s motorcycle, which was in the far-right lane heading towards the P-Turn,” he said in a TVS news report.
Barry said the impact threw the victim onto the road divider, while both vehicles continued forward before hitting a road barrier on the central divider and veering into the opposite carriageway.
“The victim was pronounced dead at about 11.26am by an assistant medical officer from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
“The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured in the accident,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
