Motorcyclist dies in collision at SK Sampun

The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with another motorcyclist in front of SK Sampun.

KOTA SAMARAHAN, Nov 1: A motorcyclist has died in a collision which happened in front of SK Sampun, here, today.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, said the 7.30am incident saw two motorcyclists collided onto each other.

“The deceased, 77-year-old Linggie Unchat from Kampung Sampun Gerunggang, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other rider, a 23-year-old male from Kampung Rangawan Ulu in Sadong Jaya, suffered injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement.


Initial investigation reveal that the deceased were riding from Kampung Gerunggang in Sadong Jaya and was about to enter a junction at SK Sampun, when he collided with the other motorcyclist who was heading to Sadong Jaya from Kota Samarahan, he added.

Alexson said the weather condition was good during the incident.

”The case is under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he continued. — DayakDaily
