SERIAN, Oct 4: A 21-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into the rear of a pickup truck at KM61 of Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman here on Friday (Oct 2).
Serian district police chief Superintendent Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said the accident occurred at around 8.45pm when the pickup truck was believed to have stopped on the left shoulder of the road after its driver got out to relieve himself.
“The motorcycle ridden by the victim then crashed into the rear of the vehicle.
“The victim, who was from Kampung Hulu, Serian, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement.
However, he said the victim was pronounced dead at 3.55pm on Saturday (Oct 3). The pickup truck driver was not injured in the accident
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
