LAWAS, Sept 28: A 47-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident along Jalan Lawas–Merapok near Kampung Pengalih here on Sunday (Sept 27).
According to Lawas district police chief Deputy Superintendent Liong Tindan, the victim died at the scene following the accident at around 6.52am.
“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding alone from Lawas town towards Jalan Merapok.
“Upon reaching the Kampung Pengalih area, the motorcycle is believed to have lost control before skidding off to the left side of the road,” he said in a TVS news report.
He said the victim was thrown from the motorcycle, causing his face and head to hit the road shoulder.
“The victim sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Lawas Hospital.
“Based on the evidence at the scene, preliminary investigations found that no other vehicles were involved in the accident,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
