MIRI, June 18: A 59-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash after his motorcycle veered off the road along Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau near SK Agama Miri at noon.
Miri District Police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the victim was travelling from the Saberkas roundabout towards his workplace when the incident occurred.
“Upon reaching the location, the motorcycle lost control and veered off to the left side of the road,” he said in a statement today.
He said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Miri Hospital Emergency Unit at 12.13pm.
Mohd Farhan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He urged witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to contact Traffic Investigating Officer Insp Mohd Faizul Ab Rahim at 014-8582582 or 085-430479, or to visit the nearest police station.
He also advised all road users to remain vigilant and comply with traffic regulations to help prevent further tragedies. — DayakDaily
