BINTULU, Aug 11: A man died after a crash involving a lorry trailer and a motorcycle at Mile 8 Jalan Bintulu-Miri on Friday.
The motorcyclist was identified as Julaihi Bujang, 52.
He died while receiving medical treatment at Bintulu Hospital in the aftermath of the 5.30pm crash, disclosed Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu.
The deceased was travelling alone when the incident happened.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle riden by the deceased had slammed onto the lorry trailer as the latter was making a U-turn.
The rider was subsequently thrown off his motorcycle and landed underneath the lorry.
Meanwhile, the lorry trailer’s driver was unharmed.
Both vehicles were heading towards Miri from Bintulu when the fatal crash occurred.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
