KUCHING, Sept 11: A 35-year-old motorcycle theft suspect from ‘Geng Wan’ group was arrested in Kampung Bukit Berangan, Kota Samarahan area on Thursday afternoon.
“The suspect who was arrested on Thursday is the mastermind of the ‘Geng Wan’ group which was active in Padawan and Kota Samarahan area. There were 5 members in the group and three of the suspects had already been arrested before this,” Padawan District Acting Police Chief, DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said in the press release.
According to Lim, he said that the suspects later admitted that the group had stolen at least 12 units of vehicles and had sold the motorcycles to an Indonesian with the price ranging from RM350 to RM500.
“The suspect who was arrested on Thursday had criminal records under sec 457 of the Penal Code and Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” Lim added.
Lim said that the suspect will be arrested and will be charged under sec 379A of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
