KUCHING, Nov 4: The state government will table a motion seeking the mandate of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on the rights of the state, including its rights over territorial sea, the continental shelf and subsoils where oil and gas reserves lie.

DUN speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said this was following the fact-finding mission by a state delegation to London in July to retrieve legal documents related to the state in the formation of Malaysia.

The motion would be proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Masing.

Mohd Asfia made these remarks at a press conference after the Barisan Nasional (BN) pre-council meeting at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here today.

Meanwhile, Asfia also revealed that there would be four other bills tabled by the government as well as nine motions from opposition assemblymen. The coming DUN sitting is scheduled for Nov 8-17. ā€” DayakDaily
