KUCHING, July 18: Joy and thanksgiving filled the air today as the statue of Our Blessed Mother, fondly known as Our Lady or Mother Mary, finds her new and rightful home at St Peter’s Church, Padungan.
The parish announced that this moment of grace will be solemnly commemorated with a special blessing on Aug 15, in conjunction with the Feast of the Assumption.
Parishioners will gather for Mass on the day, followed by the blessing of the statue led by parish priest Fr Vincent Chin.
The occasion marks a meaningful milestone for the Catholic faithful in Kuching, who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival and installation of the sacred statue.
“Let us come together as a faith community to honour Our Blessed Mother and celebrate this moment of grace and thanksgiving,” the church shared in an official post on its social media platforms.
St Peter’s Church Padungan warmly invites all parishioners and members of the public to witness the blessing and join in the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Attendees are encouraged to reflect on the words of Scripture: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:46-47).
