MOTAC to showcase young ASEAN talents through ‘Best of ASEAN Performing Arts (BoAPA) 2025’

KUCHING, Oct 23: In celebration of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will be hosting the Best of ASEAN Performing Arts (BoAPA) 2025 programme themed “ASEAN Cultural Seed: Nurturing Cultural Leaders” from Oct 22 to 29 in Kuala Lumpur.

Organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Artistic Children (MAAC), the programme aims to nurture and empower the next generation of cultural talents across ASEAN by fostering creativity, deepening appreciation of regional heritage and strengthening a shared cultural identity among youth.

The highlight of the event will be the official launch by Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing at Auditorium Seri Angkasa, Angkasapuri, Kuala Lumpur on Oct 25.

BoAPA 2025 will feature a six-day intensive skill-building workshop in performing arts, focusing on traditional dance, music and contemporary interpretations of ASEAN culture.

A total of 22 young artists aged between seven and 13 from ASEAN member states will take part in this creative exchange and collaboration.

MOTAC said the programme’s objective is to develop children’s artistic potential and capacity through the preservation and innovation of traditional practices to safeguard ASEAN’s cultural heritage for future generations, in line with the Malaysia MADANI values of sustainability, inclusivity and shared prosperity.
