KUCHING, Nov 4: Road maintenance is more than just a technical duty—it is a moral trust, a symbol of discipline, and an expression of love for the nation, says Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Speaking on the launch of the MY-Asean Roads & Traffic Tech Expo (My-ARTTE) and the Malaysia Road Maintenance Convention (MRMC) held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur on Monday (Nov 3), Nanta said well-maintained roads reflect the people’s confidence in their government and shared determination to ensure that every journey across Malaysia is safer, smoother, and more sustainable.

“From the MyJalan initiative, which began as a platform for citizens to report road damages, it has now evolved into a national movement uniting everyone—the people, government agencies, local authorities and the industry—to share the collective responsibility of maintaining our road infrastructure.

“Today, that very spirit takes on a greater form through the My-ARTTE and MRMC. I am honoured to launch this historic programme, which brings together engineers, researchers, policymakers, industry players and ASEAN regional communities to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen collaborative networks in road maintenance and traffic technology,” he said in a Facebook post.

Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, hoped that My-ARTTE and MRMC would become solid platforms for the birth of new ideas, technological innovation, and regional collaboration.

“Let us continue to build roads not just to connect places, but to unite hopes, uphold dignity, and drive the progress of our nation,” he said. — DayakDaily
