More than 4,700 children made orphans by Covid-19

KUCHING, Oct 29: The Federal government will allocate RM25 million for Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia to lead the effort to provide welfare and education for orphans whose parents have died of Covid-19.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said since the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 4,700 children had lost their homes when their parents passed away due to Covid-19.

“As Keluarga Malaysia, it is our responsibility to ensure that the future of these children continues to be safeguarded,” said Tengku Zafrul.


He said the government will provide RM25 million for Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia to lead efforts to protect the welfare, education and to ensure a bright future for these children.

“In addition, the government also calls on all parties, especially the corporate sector to contribute to the welfare of these children,” said Tengku Zafrul when presenting Budget 2022 at Parliament today. — DayakDaily
