More than 300 fully vaccinated Kuching residents infected with Covid-19 on Aug 16

KUCHING, Aug 17: More than 300 fully vaccinated people in Kuching have been infected with Covid-19, according to figures as reported by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) yesterday.

According to statistics from SDMC advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, approximately 330 people who have completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were infected with the coronavirus out of the 1,120 people reported by the Pejabat Kesihatan Bahagian Kuching (PKBK) yesterday.


He added there were also 70 people who had received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccines and 70 unvaccinated individuals who have tested positive for Covid-19.

Dr Sim, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman, pointed out that among those who have tested positive were 171 individuals not eligible for vaccination, mainly referring to those below the age of 18.

There were also 532 individuals whose status were yet to be determined, who have been infected with Covid-19.

In terms of clusters, Dr Sim said in a social media post yesterday that family clusters contributed the most number of infections with 180 cases followed by workplace clusters with 67 cases and family clusters with 60 cases.

Among the clusters in Kuching, the Kampung Quop Cluster reported the highest number of new infection with 93 cases and subsequently Kampung Punau-Git Cluster with 34 new cases, Kampung Bintawa Hilir Cluster (10), and SPS Stutong Cluster (10). — DayakDaily
