KUCHING, Mar 14: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos believed that there will be growing support towards the federal government led by Perikatan Nasional (PN).

The new government will gradually gain the trust of Malaysians due to what he believed were capable and righteous leaders as well as leaders with integrity selected by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to his cabinet.

“As the recent political crisis is slowly residing and the current novel coronavirus (Covid-19) scare is worsening, more and more Malaysians of all political persuasions are starting to embrace and accept PN.

“Besides, the people were growing discontented about Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) failures such as deliberately breaking pledges and promises made by creating mere excuses to its inability to solve the many national financial and economic problems,” he said in a statement.

He believed that as facts became unravelled and the former PH government’s inherent weaknesses and failures were exposed, Malaysians felt relieved with the birth of PN as it gave them some hope for the future.

In the meantime, Peter opined that PH was initially united and had gained peoples’ support through their promises to oust kleptocrat Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, bring back money from scandal-hit 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and abolish the widely-panned Goods and Services Tax (GST).

But, he observed that when the issues with Najib, 1MDB and GST had been tackled, there was nothing that held PH together.

Thus, Peter opined that the collapse of the PH government was due to their inherent internal weaknesses and failures and not so much due to external factors. —DayakDaily
