KUCHING, Dec 18: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Mohd Chee Kadir secured his second term for N40 Kabong with a majority of 2,276 votes.
According to the Election Commission’s (EC) official results, Chee Kadir won with 4,789 votes defeating Wan Mohamad Madehi Wan Ali from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) who managed to get 2,026 votes.
Two other contenders namely Mohamad Asri Kassim from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Hud Andri from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) lost their deposits after only garnering 208 and 91 votes, respectively.
In the previous Sarawak State Election in 2016, Chee Kadir became the first assemblyman for Kabong after securing 5,069 votes with 3,585 majority votes, defeating Jini Sahini from Amanah, who only got 1,484 votes.
The Kabong state constituency was created in the 2015 redistribution. — DayakDaily
