PETALING JAYA, Nov 4: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has launched the Sekolahku Portal, a one-stop digital platform developed by GovTech Malaysia to provide the public with easier access to verified school information nationwide, including school locations, profiles and basic statistics.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the portal was designed to make school-related information more accessible, particularly for parents and guardians seeking information about educational institutions.
“Through the Sekolahku Portal, users can search for schools by location, view school profiles, and access basic information and statistics through a more convenient, organised and user-friendly platform.
“For parents and guardians in particular, easier access to official school information can help them make references and obtain the information they need more quickly,” he said.
He said this during the handover ceremony of the Sekolahku Portal to MOE at Sekolah Kebangsaan Damansara Utama yesterday (Nov 3), as reported by TVS.
Gobind said the portal draws on official data from MOE’s Education Management Information System (EMIS) to ensure the statistics, school profiles and information on facilities displayed are accurate and verified.
He said the initiative also reflected the Whole-of-Government (WoG) approach, which encourages collaboration between ministries and agencies in developing digital government services.
“When this expertise is combined, we can develop solutions that not only meet technical requirements but also take into account users’ actual experiences and needs.
“This is the kind of collaboration we want to see more of in the public sector, where technology is not developed for its own sake, but used as an enabler to deliver better government services,” he said.
Gobind added that the handover marked an important phase in ensuring MOE could independently update the portal’s content, maintain its relevance and introduce improvements based on users’ needs.
The handover ceremony was jointly officiated by Gobind and Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek. — DayakDaily
