Missing man from Rumah Nanyi in Sri Aman found drowned

SRI AMAN, June 1: A 21-year-old man who was reported missing yesterday evening (May 31) after going to a river’s waterline to install fish traps was discovered drowned this morning by divers from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

According to a statement from the state Bomba operations centre, the man is from Rumah Nanyi, Gran C Stumbin, Sri Aman.

“A 21-year-old man named Roy Martin Lebat was reported to have left his house at 8am.

“He was dressed in a long black T-shirt and black shorts. He reportedly rode a motorbike to the waterline in order to install fish traps,” read the statement.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched this morning, involving firefighters from the Sri Aman fire station, the police, and the Civil Defence Force (APM).

Bomba further noted that the victim’s body was discovered around 10.55am by the department’s diving team.

His body was retrieved from a culvert, and it was handed over to the police for further action.

Following the finding, the SAR operation ended at 11am. — DayakDaily
