Missing man feared victim of crocodile attack in Pusa

BETONG, July 2: A 61-year-old man has gone missing after he was attacked by a crocodile at Sg Undey, Kampung Tampan, Pusa.

Firefighters launched a search and rescue (SAR) operations for the man after the Betong fire station received a distress call from Pusa police at 3.45pm.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, the missing man is believed to have been attacked while he was collecting rumbia (sago) logs with three other friends along the riverbank this afternoon.


The man was securing rumbia logs when he was attacked by a crocodile.

The man was by himself along the riverbank securing the logs when his friends saw a crocodile attack and drag him into the water.

Firefighters together with police and 80 villagers in 13 longboats have searched 1km upstream and 1km downstream from the site where the man disappeared.

As of press time, there was no sign of the missing man. — DayakDaily
