MIRI, Nov 22: Panic-stricken folk of a residential area in Jalan Sze Chuan here raised the alarm on Tuesday night when they saw fire coming out from holes in the ground, presumably from a leaking underground gas pipeline.

“Seven firefighters in one fire engine were mobilised to the scene after the emergency alert was received at 7.39pm,” said Miri fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.

The firefighters managed to put everything under control in less than 20 minutes upon arrival at the scene.

There was no report of injuries in the incident.

The actual cause of the fires has yet to be ascertained. — DayakDaily
