MIRI, 18 Nov: Acting Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf on Wednesday condemned a posting made by a Facebook account owner using the name ‘Jenifer Lawrence’, and described it as fake and misleading the public to create panic on Covid-19.

Yesterday, the Facebook holder by the name ‘Jenifer Lawrence’, claimed that a tourist bus was used to transport 46 passengers (by land) from Kota Kinabalu to Miri recently.

The false posting in Facebook.

The posting together with a news article written in Chinese is absolutely fake and untrue, said Aziz in a statement today.

The posting had gone viral since yesterday, but could no more to be found today, believed to have been deleted by the account holder.

“The posting made by ‘Jenifer Lawrence’ is inaccurate and even confusing to Mirian’s,” he said.

Aziz added, a police report will be lodged on the matter.

“We also going to lodge a report to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC) for further investigation,” he opined.

Aziz also reminded the public not to spread false information and make sure to check their facts before sharing any information on social media. – Dayakdaily
