MIRI, June 23: One new case of Covid-19 has been detected involving a Mirian.

Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDMC) disclosed in a press statement today (June 23) that the said individual was returning from Tunisia via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on June 20, landing at Miri Airport on June 21.

“The said individual was asymptomatic upon arrival and random PCR test performed at KLIA on June 20 became positive,” MDMC said in the statement.

The individual has been admitted to Miri hospital for further observation.

The family as well as close contacts on the flight have been identified by Miri Health Department.

“All close contacts are asymptomatic and further confirmatory testing will be done for them,” the statement added.

It said that all close contacts have been issued home quarantine order by the health department.

This division disaster management classified the case as an imported case.

“The case will be registered at the place of the detection which is KLIA /Selangor of entry point instead of Miri (Sarawak), hence it will not appear in Miri or Sarawak case statistic reports,” said the statement.—DayakDaily
