MIRI, Feb 15: Miri Police Headquarters (IPD) recorded 33 commercial crime cases in January this year, an increase of six cases compared to 27 cases for the same period last year.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said fraud cases represented the biggest share with 31 cases, followed by cybercrime (2 cases).

Alexson disclosed this earlier this morning after attending the IPD Miri monthly assembly.

Apart from this, the number of accident cases in January this year increased by 8.7 per cent to 324 cases, compared to 298 cases in Jan 2023.

At the event, Alexson also presented certificates of appreciation to nine police personnel of various ranks for their achievements.

On another note, Alexson reminded his personnel to uphold high discipline while carrying out their daily tasks.

He added, recent disciplinary cases involving officers and personnel have both tarnished the force’s image and diminished the public’s confidence in the police. — DayakDaily
