Miri police seize drugs worth RM2.3 mln in Jan 2023

MIRI, Feb 9: The cops here have arrested 18 people including a female suspected of involvement in drug offences in January this year.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said, the suspects were detained via various raids under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

During the period, he said, the police also seized drugs amounting to RM2.3 million.


Speaking at the Miri Police Headquarters monthly assembly today, he said the seized drugs comprised syabu (2,063 grammes), 548 Erimin 5 pills, ganja (16.70 grammes), ketamin (2,419.8 grammes), Ecstasy powder (42,794 grammes), Ecstasy pills (145 pills ) and magic mushroom powder (3.5 grammes).

“The success of these raids reflects our determination in combating drug-related activities in this district,” he said.

Over the same period, he added, the Marine Police together with IPD Miri also achieved success in carrying out operations to curb contraband.

A total of five cases were successfully resolved involving confiscation worth RM357,967. The cases were investigated under the Supply Control Act 1967 (2 cases) and the Customs Act 1967 (3 cases).
