Miri oil palm fruit collecting counter destroyed by fire

KUCHING, Aug 30: A container used as an oil palm fruit collecting counter caught on fire in Miri last night.

However, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) only received the alert today at at 10.18am. A team of firefighters were subsequently deployed to the scene.


According to a statement from the State Bomba Operations Centre, the fire had been put out by the time the firefighters arrived, and the container hut was found to be fully razed by the fire. The Bomba team checked the scene ensure the location was safe.

According to one of the container workers at the scene, the container was already razed when he arrived for work this morning at 7.30am.

The loss incurred and the cause of the fire are still being investigated. — DayakDaily
