MIRI, Aug 1: Miri mayor Adam Yii will bank on his vast experience to improve service delivery and turn the city into the most liveable resort city in the next two years.
Yii was among 721 councillors who attended the swearing in ceremony on July 30 in Kuching, for the new term 2019-2021. This would be his second term serving as Miri mayor.
“In order to make Miri as the most liveable resort city, Miri City Council (MCC) will engage all stakeholders, particularly Mirians, to plan and work together for the betterment of the city.
“One of the focus areas will be the green community and environment development initiatives,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the city council will strive to improve the overall quality of the city’s environment, particularly the green spaces and parks.
“It is hoped that together with the Miri people, MCC can transform the city into a vibrant and liveable city that is attractive to both Mirians and tourists alike,” he said.
On a different note, dismissed allegation made by Miri DAP Youth chief Peter Hee, who claimed that one of the MCC’s elected counciliors was not originally Sarawakian but from Peninsular Malaysia (Melaka).
“Please be informed that councillor Warzieda Ahmad is a Sarawakian born in Melaka to a Sarawakian father and mother, the allegation is not correct,” Yii explained. — DayakDaily
