KUCHING, July 22: Miri City Council mayor Adam Yii has denied pleading with an individual named “Haji Tuah” to open the Brunei border in a WhatsApp message.

Yii in his social media denied that he has any knowledge of or has ever contacted “Haji Tuah”.

“This morning, I received the message below that alleged that I called a certain Hj Tuah. I wish to state categorically that I have no idea who is this Hj Tuah nor ever called him.

“This statement is issued to stop this fake news once and for all,” said Yii.

Yii in his social media posting on his Facebook Page today showed a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation shared in a WhatsApp group where ‘Haji Tuah’ claims that Yii had asked him to open the Brunei border:

“Ini lah keadaan bandar Miri banyak kedai2 udah tutup. Baru tadi Dato Bandar Miri telpon saya. Haji Tuah tolonglah buka itu sempadan Sg. 7 kami banyak susah tidak ada olang Brunei latang. Hayah bingkrap lah Miri (This is the situation in Miri, many shops are closed. Just now the Miri Mayor called me. Haji Tuah please open the border at Sg.7 we are in great difficulty as no Bruneians are coming. Miri is going to be bankrupt soon).”

Yii thus requested the media to disseminate his message so that the public will not be misled.—DayakDaily
