MIRI, Nov 9: Thirty-two teams are expected to participate in the Miri Mayor’s Cup volleyball competition from Nov 24-25.
The competition is the joint effort of Miri Airport Staff Club, Miri City Council (MCC) and Miri Retirement Club (KRT).
Competition coordinator Mohd Azra Ayub said the event is open to all teams in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.
It is divided into two categories: Men’s Open and Women’s Open.
Its main purposes are to train club members in managing a competition, to spot volleyball talents, and to popularise Miri City as a City of Sports in conjunction with Miri Visit Year 2018.
The prizes for both categories are the same. The winning team gets RM2,000 cash, first runner-up gets RM1,000 and second runner-up gets RM500. All winners will also get trophies and medals.
