KUCHING, July 1: The Ministry of Works (KKR) officially handed over the new Miri Hospital block worth RM289.2 million Miri Hospital to the Ministry of Health (MOH) via the Sarawak Health Department today.
According to a news report by TV Sarawak (TVS), the block has a capacity of 328 beds involving various wards, 900 parking spaces, 300 motorcycle parking spaces, and other related facilities.
“The initiative is to increase the capacity and capability of Miri Hospital to help the government meet the increasingly urgent medical needs of residents within the area as well as Northern Sarawak,” said KKR.
Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni witnessed the handover of the new block for Miri Hospital.
The certificate of completion (CPC) for the additional hospital building was issued on April 28, said KKR, with the increased number of beds, medical expertise, and support services.
“The handing over of the additional building today will allow MOH and Miri Hospital to place and test all the medical equipment before officially starting operations,” said KKR. — DayakDaily
