MIRI, May 14: Following the birthday event related to Jalan Lilin Cluster, Miri Health Department has initiated the necessary investigations towards the objective to issue enforcement summons for breach of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) that led to the cluster occurrence.

In revealing this today, Minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin reiterated that social gatherings are not allowed in this division under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“This is clearly spelt out in the SOPs. We could see that social gatherings have been one of the main causes of the clusters in Miri. Since this year to date, there are eight clusters caused by social gatherings namely Bah Sayap Cluster; Rakut Cluster; Seruas Cluster;Ā  Gridbid Cluster; Jalan Kapitan Cluster; Abak Bon Cluster; Jalan Limbang Cluster andĀ  Jalan Lilin Cluster,” he pointed out when contacted today.

“Once again, we strongly appeal for the cooperation and support of everyone to stop holding social gatherings. Our enforcement teams will not hesitate to take action against anyone who do so and those who breached the SOPs,” Lee asserted.

Lee said, that he has called Miri Resident and Miri City Council secretary to organise community policing to ensure no social gatherings are being held during this period.

“We wish also to seek public cooperation to report any social gatherings so that action can be taken,” he said. ā€” DayakDaily
