Miri Gawai Dayak Bazaar 2023 to be held from May 1 to 20 in Permyjaya

KUCHING, April 15: The Gawai Dayak Bazaar (GDB) 2023 Miri will be held from May 1 to 20 in Permyjaya.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, organised by Gagasan Anak Dayak Sarawak (GADS), the bazaar will have 65 stalls that are divided into two categories, namely a trade category featuring handicrafts, beauty products, insurance, food, fragrance products and others, as well as a food category.

Additionally, a number of activities based on the culture of the Dayak community will be held during GDB 2023 to cultivate the interest of the younger generation.

Themed ‘Begulal Bedagang Begawal’, this year’s GDB is very much in line with the objectives of GADS, at the same time cultivating the Dayaks’ interest in business activities to improve their source of income.

Speaking during the pre-launch ceremony of GDB 2023 in Miri on Friday (April 14), Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak Department Datuk Gerawat Gala said apart from promoting local cuisines, the bazaar will also highlight the customs and culture of the Dayak community which can be seen and experienced by local and foreign visitors.

At the ceremony, he also announced a contribution RM20,000 from his Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation to support the event. — DayakDaily
