KUCHING, Aug 14: Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) has set up taskforces in five districts to identify individuals who have not been vaccinated.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) yesterday (Aug 13), Minister-in-charge of Miri DDMC Datuk Lee Kim Shin said every taskforce will be headed by the respective district officers, with the help of all agencies and volunteers.

The objectives of this taskforce is to ensure that individuals who have not received their vaccination in Miri would be able to get the first dose of their vaccines before Aug 31, as well as to help those with transportation problems reach their respective vaccination centres (PPV) in Miri.

The taskforces also aim to attract more residents in Miri to get vaccinated.

Among the initiatives to be undertaken by the taskforces include an announcement programme at all villages and low cost housing areas in the district and the distribution of information via infographics, pamphlets, social media outlets and radio messages.

Meanwhile, Lee also called for all government departments and agencies, employers and volunteer bodies to check whether their staff or workers have been vaccinated.

For employees, all employers must ensure that they get vaccinated and inform their respective District Offices.

“For anyone who has not been vaccinated, they are requested to get the vaccines by visiting any public PPVs in the district, which are open to walk-ins until Aug 31,” he added. — DayakDaily
