Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Sibu issued thunderstorm warnings, valid until 5pm (July 1)

KUCHING, July 1: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak today.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Matu, Dalat, and Mukah), Bintulu (Tatau), and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi).

The warning, issued at 2.10pm today, remains in effect until 5pm.

A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a maximum of six hours per release. — DayakDaily
