Minos: Opposition in Sarawak unreliable unlike UK counterparts with ‘shadow cabinet’, economic plan

KUCHING, Nov 15: The opposition in Sarawak cannot be relied on as there is nothing to look up to and hope for from them, opines political pundit Dato Peter Minos.

In a statement, he compared the opposition in Sarawak to their counterparts in the United Kingdom (UK).

“In the UK, I know there is a so-called ‘responsible’ Opposition which has a ‘shadow cabinet’ and a solid economic plan — ready to rule if elected to power. Can we say the same for our opposition in Sarawak? Can they be relied on to rule and govern Sarawak if given the mandate? I very much doubt it. There is nothing to look up to and hope for in our opposition,” he said.

He asserted that all he could see in the opposition, especially Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), were “a bunch who are fit and good only at the following: finding fault in others, hitting and criticising others, creating stories and propaganda against opponents, playing rhetoric, and making empty promises”.

“They have no shadow cabinet. They have no concrete plans for the economy. They are only ‘hot air’ and empty and useless ideas. So how to put our hope and trust in the opposition? They have nothing for us to rely on or look up to.”

Compared to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), he said, the coalition has all the attributes to run and rule Sarawak and its people with its solid leadership and economic plans and strategies.

“You can rely on GPS to govern and look after Sarawak and, at the same time, safeguard and protect Sarawak’s basic rights, powers, and interests.

“Like the previous State election, this GE15 (15th General Election) is the time for Sarawakians to compare GPS with the Opposition in Sarawak. That comparison is needed and vital before Sarawakians go to polls on Nov 19.” — DayakDaily
