KUCHING, Jan 10: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will terminate the services of contractors who deliberately breach contract terms and are not serious in carrying out their duties.
Its chairman Dato Peter Minos said the council is not satisfied with contractors who performed shoddy work and did not adhere to contract terms or schedules.
“From now on, MPKS will do more checking, monitoring and supervising.
“If necessary, action will be taken to enforce contact terms to ensure that contractors do not ‘main-main’ (play the fool),” he said in a statement today.
Adding on, Minos pointed out that the council was not happy with contractors who used the Covid-19 pandemic as an excuse for delaying projects in Samarahan and those who did not comply with the terms of the contract.
With Sarawak currently under Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) with most activities allowed, Minos pointed out that there is no reason for contractors to delay their projects.
He revealed members of the public complained to the council every day about unfinished projects or projects which were not completed on schedule.
As a result, Minos said, the council always get the blame even for projects by the Public Works Department and other agencies. — DayakDaily
