Minor earthquake recorded in Borneo, tremors may be felt in Southern Sabah

KUCHING, Nov 6: A minor earthquake was recorded in Borneo yesterday at 6.37pm with a magnitude of 4.8.

According to statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the earthquake was detected at coordinates 2.7° North and 116.6° East, about 227km south of Sapulut, Sabah, at a depth of 10km.

“Tremors may be felt in southern parts of Sabah,” read the statement.

MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the situation closely. No tsunami threat has been issued in relation to the earthquake. —DayakDaily
