SARIKEI, June 26: The Women, Children, and Community Welfare Ministry Sarawak will look into the incident where a 17-year-old teenager who broke into a kindergarten in Tanjung Manis ran amok and tried to grab nine children.
According to its minister, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, the kindergarten has security guards stationed and CCTVs installed, but what happened was not something they expected.
“This case is beyond our expectations as the man was under the influence and had climbed over the fence to get into the premises.
“Measures have been taken, but this case is beyond our expectations. As the man was under substance influence, this is an issue which we need to look into,” she said to reporters after presenting Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS) and Maternity Assistance (BIB) in Sarikei Hospital today.
Meanwhile, she praised the teacher for her bravery in protecting her pupils during the incident.
“We praise and thank this teacher who was willing to risk her life for the sake of her students from unexpected external threats.
“Thus, we will try to give due appreciation to this teacher for her sacrifice,” she added. — DayakDaily
