KUCHING, Aug 21: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Development (KPWK) Sarawak has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Swinburne Sarawak to conduct a study on the Sarawak Social Well-being Index (SSWI) 2023.
Its minister, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said she believed that the research will become an important tool to measure the impact of social inclusion aspirations under the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“It is hoped that SSWI 2023 will be able to measure the key performance indicators (KPI) of the social welfare index in Sarawak as a whole.
“SSWI 2023 will include valid and reliable findings up to the state, division, and district level as the research covers all 45 districts,” she said during the signing ceremony of MOA on SSWI 2023 between KPWK and Swinburne Sarawak held at Raia Hotel today.
She added that the Sarawak Social Development Council (MPS) will function as a research body in carrying out social studies and organising activities to deal with social issues and problems.
SSWI 2023 study will be conducted over nine months starting July this year and is expected to be completed by the end of March 2024.
The first SSWI study was in 2019, which was conducted with a group of researchers from University Malaya.
It was completed in 2020 with a social well-being index at the medium level of 10 social pillars, 25 domains and 79 social sub-domains measured. — DayakDaily
