KUCHING, Aug 17: The 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 saw the participation of female athletes in all sports events for the first time, says Federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
“The 21st Sukma is the biggest one in history featuring 37 sporting events involving nine divisions throughout Sarawak,” said Yeoh during the opening ceremony of Sukma 2024, streamed live via the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) YouTube page tonight.
In her speech, Yeoh also emphasised the sporting spirit among athletes.
She said regardless of the result, during or after the competition, athletes should be kind and respectful to each other.
“We celebrate fighters and not just winners, and Sarawak is the best place for us to realise this spirit of unity,” she added. — DayakDaily
