KUCHING, Dec 13: The recently proposed new international airport and deep sea port in Tanjung Embang area falls under Kota Samarahan and Asajaya division.
In pointing this out, Asajaya assemblyman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the economic spin off from such mega projects will benefit both division and the surrounding areas.
“It is an open secret that the airport and deep sea port is in the Tanjung Embang area, which is at the border of Asajaya constituency,” he said.
Abdul Karim told this to reporters when met after the handing over ceremony of land titles Section 13 and 18 of the State Land Code and compensation cheques for project in Samarahan division held at Intan Seminar Hall in Kota Samarahan today.
Asked by reporters if the location for both mega projects have been confirmed, he said it is yet to be finalised.
“But from what I have been told, I believed it is in that area,” he added.
Meanwhile, Abdul Karim, who is also Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), represented Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan presented 218 land titles under Section 18 to 173 recipients from Kampung Entingan, Kampung Nangka and Kampung Sri Tajo.
Apart from that, a total of 123 recipients from Kampung Mang in Samarahan, were given land titles under Section 13.
As for the compensation cheques, 164 recipients involved in Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) Kampong Gedong in Samarahan and 275Kv Kuching Network Reinforcement Project (Entingan B-Tanjung Bako 275KV Transmission Line Projects)(Samarahan Sector) receive compensation worth a total of RM19,286,252.36. — DayakDaily
