KUCHING, June 15: Malaysian Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri’s older sister Hairuni @ Jamilah Shukri has passed away today, aged 70.
This news was conveyed by Nancy on her Facebook page earlier today.
“The feeling of losing a mother has not yet go away, now (I) have lost a sister who has contributed a lot to family members and the community, especially in the tourism industry.
“Allahyarhamah Hajah Hairuni@Jamilah Shukri has left our family forever. Her passing is very enviable as she passed away on a Friday.
“It is very painful to accept her departure, but we are ‘redha’ (accepting the fate). We would like to say a huge thank you to all relatives, family and friends who visited and gave words of encouragement. Only God can repay all your good deeds,” she wrote.
According to a reliable source, Jamilah was previously admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) after experiencing mild stroke last Wednesday (June 7).
She breathed her last at 11.27am today.
The passing of Nancy’s sister was exactly two years after their mother’s death at 11.54pm on June 16, 2021.
Malaysian Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi also conveyed his condolences to Nancy’s family.
“Condolences to the family of Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Santubong Member of Parliament and my good friend, YB Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri, on the passing of her sister, Hairuni @ Jamilah Shukri, today.
“I pray for courage and peace for you and family during this difficult time,” he wrote on his Facebook page. — DayakDaily
