KUCHING, Feb 14: In 2025, the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme contributed RM10.5 million in participation fees, fixed deposits totalling RM1.8 billion, and property purchases amounting to RM1.5 billion.
According to Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, this was a significant improvement from 2024’s figures, which recorded participation fees amounting to RM3.3 million and fixed deposit accounts reaching RM550.8 million.
“Since the new MM2H framework was approved by the Cabinet on May 21, 2024, following its official takeover by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) on October 15, 2023, and the commencement of operations by the MM2H One-Stop Centre (OSC) on December 18, 2023, we have witnessed a significant surge in confidence.
“As of February 11, 2026, a total of 255 operator licences have been issued and, more importantly, actual performance is reflected in participation figures that rose significantly in 2025.
“For 2024 and 2025 alone, a total of 9,511 participants were approved under various categories, including Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Special Economic Zone/Special Financial Zone. These are not just numbers. They translate into real economic contributions with a direct impact on the national economy,” he shared in a Facebook post.
Furthermore, he said this is a clear message that Malaysia is ready to open its doors to the world, with stronger governance, more transparent processes, and a more efficient system.
Tiong, who is also the assemblyman for Dudong and MP for Bintulu, thanked agents and operating companies who have worked hard to promote MM2H internationally.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Bank of China, which signed a memorandum of understanding with Motac, saying that such a collaboration is important in strengthening investor and international participant confidence in the stability and credibility of the programme.
“MM2H is not just about retirement or property ownership. It is about building an international community that chooses Malaysia as a second home because of the stability, cultural diversity, service accessibility, and quality of life we offer.
“We are not merely promoting a programme—we are promoting Malaysia as a long-term destination trusted by the world,” he said. — DayakDaily
