KUCHING, June 25: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders must aim to be more than a ‘jaguh kampung’ (village hero), says secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said this is due to the fact that the leaders are going to play in a field where there is no more ‘jaguh kampung’.
“Our playing field is not limited and restricted to local ground but has expanded globally. The world is our playing field,” he said during a Gawai dinner in Sibu last night.
Nanta, who is also Malaysian Minister of Works and Kapit MP, further cited the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as an examplary figure.
“He (Abang Johari) has been invited to speak on various world stages, such as in Japan, to share his thoughts and vision in driving this State.
“The Premier’s broad knowledge and clear and straightforward mission has opened the eyes of the world to his credibility as a leader.
“I am proud to see how foreign countries are focusing on Sarawak and also the leaders who have high knowledge and skills in governing this State,” he added. — DayakDaily
