KUCHING, Oct 11: France’s tourism companies are set to utilise digital technology to target and promote tourism in Malaysia in a more precise manner.
Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said Malaysia’s tourism promotion strategy for the French market focuses not only on strengthening collaborations with travel agencies but also on emphasising digital marketing.
According to him, during his recent meeting with the president of Marietton Group, one of France’s largest tourism companies, Laurent Abitbol, and the chief executive officer of Havas Voyages, Christophe Jacquet, they exchanged views on online promotion and digital marketing.
“They will be assigning specialists to engage potential groups online and utilise digital technology to target and promote Malaysian tourism precisely,” he said in a statement today.
After the meeting, he added that they also met with Marco Vasco, a representative from a travel agency specialising in customised travel experiences, to discuss the proposal of collaborating with local influencers.
“Both parties have reached a preliminary agreement to invite local influencers to Malaysia for a 10- to 14-day ‘Explore Malaysia Tour’,” he said. — DayakDaily
