KUCHING, March 24: Events in Sarawak will not go beyond the regulations set by the Federal government, says Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Abdul Karim said although Sarawak has its own decision in this matter, the organisation of events will continue to be monitored.

“We will not be too tight nor too strict. And we will not be too free also.

“It is not to say that we allow artistes to be naked on stage, there are still rules and regulations that need to be adhered to,” he said during a press conference held launching 60th anniversary of Sarawak independence logo, theme and website at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, here today.

He was asked by reporters if there has been any discussion between Sarawak and Federal government regarding the new guidelines for foreign artistes performing in the country.

Yesterday (March 22), commenting on stricter rules for foreign artites performing in Malaysia introduces by the Communications and Digital Ministry recently, Abdul Karim emphasised Sarawak will not let the Federal authorities dictate what should and should not be done in this region as thr Sarawak government has certain degree of autonomy in decision making. — DayakDaily
