KUCHING, Dec 7: The status of Covid-19 cases in the country is under control and unlikely to threaten or affect Sarawak’s tourism industry, says Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“If the number of cases increases, then I believe the Ministry of Health (MOH) will come out with a specific directive.

“At the moment, everything is under control. That is how I look at it,” he said during a press conference held after launching the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) Integrity Day held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

He was replying to a question from reporters regarding what action would MTCP take if the number of Covid-19 cases continue to increase.

He added currently Sarawak has yet to reach a level where the number of Covid-19 cases would disrupt the tourism industry.

“But once we reach that level, I believe that as the ministry that regulate tourism and events, proper guidelines will be issued on what are the do’s and don’t,” he added. — DayakDaily
