KUCHING, Feb 2: Community leaders are responsible for familiarising themselves with the roles and functions of any government ministries, departments, and agencies for the community’s well-being.

According to Sarawak Women, Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, community leaders have an important role at the grassroots level to continue enriching the community’s well-being, especially in rural areas.

She said they must be knowledgeable of the various assistance and initiatives given by the government to the community.

“Community leaders must know how to disseminate such information to them. They must know how to collaborate any programme with the ministries for the well-being of our community,” she said.

Fatimah said this to reporters after a courtesy call by the new executive committee members of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Women wing led by its president Agnes Jonep today.

She said everybody must work as a team to achieve the community’s well-being.

Meanwhile, Agnes shared that the courtesy call to Fatimah, who also leads the women wings of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), is to introduce the new PDP Women wing exco members to the minister and to inform on the direction the party is taking for GPS. — DayakDaily
