“As proposed, the Children’s Division will have its own department. For example, the Children’s Division will become the Children’s Department but will still be under the ministry’s purview,” she was quoted as saying.

The minister made the remarks during the 59th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Girl Guides Association Malaysia held yesterday (June 28) at a local hotel here.

She further mentioned that the Federal level has established the Department of Children’s Development to tackle child neglect and abuse.

This department focuses on five main pillars: prevention, development, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society.

Today, the 59th Girl Guides Conference will kick off with a grand opening ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), officiated by Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia, Raja Zarith Sofiah. — DayakDaily
