KUCHING, Jan 5: Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has called for credibility and emphasis on robust data following a survey on the performance of Dayak ministers.
The survey was conducted by Professor Dr Jayum Jawan, a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and a member of the National Unity Advisory Council (NUAC), who collected responses from Dayak netizens on the approval ratings of 18 selected Dayak ministers and deputy ministers at the federal and State levels.
In the survey, Jayum said that of the 18 Dayak ministers and deputy ministers evaluated, only three scored approval ratings of 50 per cent and above and likened it to a ‘wake-up call’.
Commenting on the survey, Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said factors such as sample size, demographics, survey questions, and whether the sample is representative of the population play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the findings.
“As members of the Sarawak Cabinet, we remain committed to serving the people to the best of our abilities. Constructive feedback—when grounded in credible data—provides valuable insight for us to make improvements.
“We encourage continuous engagement between the government and the rakyat so that concerns can be directly addressed, and we can work together to create meaningful change.
“From a community perspective, I understand how important it is for leaders to be held accountable and connected to the people they serve. While this survey may highlight certain perceptions, it is vital to ensure that the feedback is based on robust data to truly reflect public sentiment,” she said.
She added that she respected the views of the people and believed that public feedback, whether positive or critical, is important for leaders to reflect and improve. — DayakDaily
