KUCHING, Sept 21: The Borneo Cultures Museum (BCM) has attracted over 1.1 million domestic and international visitors since 2022 through various world-class exhibitions, says Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Abdul Karim said BCM also serves as the go-to spot for expanding the minds of school children through all sorts of events, programmes, and exhibits.
“BCM has benefited students from 212 pre-schools, 528 primary schools, and 147 secondary schools since its inception in March 2022.
“Since January this year, BCM has benefited over 14,000 students from all over Sarawak,” he said during the BCM Night at the Museum program,e streamed live via the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) Facebook page today.
On the same note, Abdul Karim said the Borneo Cultures Museum (BCM) is the first museum in Malaysia to be officially recognised as a Green Building under the GBI (Green Building Index).
He said BCM is also accredited with a silver rating award that was presented to the Sarawak Museum Department on June 18, 2024.
“This further emphasises Sarawak’s aims to be environmentally conscious and sustainable, all while still implementing avant-garde ideas and concepts into the exhibits showcased in BCM,” he added. — DayakDaily
