Minister: Aerospace faculty at i-Cats University College progressing with focus on qualified staff, curriculum devt

KUCHING, Sept 25: Preparations for the aerospace faculty at i-Cats University College are well underway, with efforts currently focused on ensuring the availability of qualified teaching staff and the development of subjects to be offered under the degree programme in aerospace engineering.

Stating this, Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD), Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, expressed hopes for the faculty to be operational as soon as possible.

“We are making arrangements for both the faculty and subjects to be offered, with the goal of launching the programme as soon as possible,” he said when met by reporters at Sarawak Skills and i-Cats University College’s 26th Convocation Ceremony, today at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

Sagah, who is also i-Cats University College pro-chancellor, officiated at the convocation on behalf of Sarawak Premier and i-Cats University College chancellor, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The minister added: “Our aim is to train at least 30,000 skilled individuals annually, supporting our larger objective of developing a workforce of 500,000 by 2030.”

A total of 982 students graduated today, comprising graduates from Sarawak Skills and i-Cats University College.

The event was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including MEITD deputy minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee; and Sarawak Skills chairman and i-Cats University College pro-chancellor, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain. — DayakDaily
